Dr Joep Crompvoets is a Professor at KU Leuven Public Governance Institute (Belgium) holding the chair on ‘information management in the public sector’. He is also the secretary-general of EuroSDR – a European spatial data research network linking national mapping agencies with research institutes and universities for the purpose of applied research in the domain of geospatial information management, and he chairs the EuroSDR Commission on Business Models and Operation.
Joep has held faculty positions at Wageningen University (The Netherlands) and Melbourne University (Australia), and was employed by CSIC IRNAS research institute in Seville (Spain). He has been involved in numerous (inter)national projects related to spatial data infrastructures, GIS, public sector innovation and e-governance. His work has been supported by UN Statistics Division (UN-GGIM), World Bank, European Commission, BELSPO Federal Public Planning Service Science Policy (Belgium), Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), Flemish government, IWT Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology, and numerous national governments around the world.
